Holden, LA – The 2010 Brotherhood Ride made its way through Southern Louisiana on 6 April. The Brotherhood Ride is a group of firefighters, law enforcement officers, and emergency medical personnel. The group was formed to honor the nine fallen firefighters of the Charleston (SC) Fire Department who perished in the line of duty on June 18, 2007. Each year, the Brotherhood Ride honors unsung heroes from around the country by riding their bicycles from Florida to their hometown of newly fallen firefighters. The mission is to provide emotional and financial support to families and friends of the fallen. The ride takes place near the one anniversary of their death, as a reminder the Brotherhood has not and will not forget them.
The 2010 Brotherhood Ride will be dedicated to two Houston Firefighters, Captain Harlow and Firefighter Hobbs, who perished while responding to an early morning house fire on Easter morning, April 12, 2009. Upon arrival, they were assigned to conduct a primary search for a reported possible victim. Captain Harlow and Firefighter Hobbs died while performing the search. These firefighters made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the citizens of Houston, Texas.
The Brotherhood Ride honors these heroes by riding bicycles from Tallahassee, Florida to Houston, Texas. The ride left Tallahassee on April 1 and will arrive ten days later in Houston, after covering more than 850 miles on bicycles.

The Brotherhood stopped at Ferrara’s Holden factory at midday for a much needed lunch and break before making their way to Baton Rouge for a reception and fundraiser downtown, hosted by Ferrara and Happy’s Irish Pub.
