Newark Awards 3 Engines to Ferrara Fire Apparatus

Holden, LA –  The City of Newark, New Jersey has awarded a large contract to Ferrara Fire Apparatus.  The Louisiana-based custom fire apparatus manufacturer will build three engines for the city.  Two will be conventional structural engines and one will be a foam pumper. All three will be built on Ferrara’s Ember custom fire chassis. Newark Fire Department, led by Fire Department Director David Giordano, operates 17 stations that serve the city’s 275,000 residents.

“Our track record with other large, metropolitan fire departments has made it easier for cities such as Newark to select our company,” commented Chris Ferrara, President and CEO of the company.

“We’ve had a string of successes with fire departments in Houston, Indianapolis, Knoxville and New York, just to name a few. Our business relies upon rural and suburban fire departments as well.  Right now, we’ve got a great combination of high profile, large departments to go along with our traditional customer base.”

Ferrara Fire Apparatus manufacturers a full line of fire and emergency vehicles, including the Inferno, Igniter, Ember and Intruder 2 custom chassis, pumpers and tankers, rear and mid-mount aerial ladders and platforms, rescue and incident command vehicles, Inundator foam pumpers and the Strong Arm fire rescue vehicle.  Ferrara is a leading safety innovator in the industry, offering such items as On-Site Tilt Table Testing, Crash Tested Cabs and Bodies, Complete Airbag Protection, SmartWheel steering systems and the complete line of MVP trucks.
