Ferrara Unveils New HD-85 Mid-Mount Aerial Platform at FRI
Holden, LA – Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc., America’s premier manufacturer of custom fire and emergency vehicles unveils its new HD-85 Mid-Mount aerial platform today at Fire Rescue International in Atlanta, Georgia. The apparatus, with a vertical reach of 85’ at only a 72 degree elevation, has been custom built for Lawrence Cedarhurst Fire Department, Lawrence, New York.
The new HD-85 features a five-section aerial ladder, which reduces the truck’s overall length to only 43’ 10” when using the Inferno medium four-door cab and chassis. The low 10' 2¾" overall travel height is an outstanding feature with the HD-85.
“Our new HD-85 aerial platform is the perfect complement to our other aerial apparatus,” said Chris Ferrara, President and CEO of Ferrara Fire Apparatus. “Now our customers have four aerial platforms to choose from and can select the model that will best suit the demands of their response area.” Ferrara already offers aerial platforms in five-section 100’ mid-mount and a pair of three-section, rear mount models that reach 85’ and 100’ respectively.
The Lawrence Cedarhurst truck is built on Ferrara’s rugged Inferno cab and chassis. Featuring the 62” extra-medium cab length, the cab has an additional 8” of rear cab leg room, compared to the 54” Inferno cab.
Ferrara builds a complete line of fire apparatus in addition to their popular aerial platforms. The remainder of their product offerings include the Inferno XD and Igniter custom chassis, Strong Arm fire-rescue vehicle, 57’ through 127’ rear mount aerial ladders, 100’ mid-mount aerial ladders, pumpers and tankers, rescue vehicles, brush trucks, airport vehicles, and incident command/heavy rescue trailers. Ferrara Fire Apparatus has long been considered a leading innovator in the fire and emergency apparatus market. Their Inferno and Igniter are some of the most durable and dependable custom chassis available and feature optional firefighter safety devices such as Independent Front Suspension, Roll Stability Control, Complete Airbag Protection, and SmartWheel steering systems.
