18 December 2008 Houston Purchases 11 New Ferrara Pumpers and AerialsHolden, LA – Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc., America’s premier custom fire apparatus manufacturer, has been awarded a contract by the City of Houston for nine (9) new custom pumpers and two (2) 107’ heavy duty aerial apparatus. The trucks will all be built on Ferrara Igniter XD heavy duty custom chassis. Houston has operated Ferrara vehicles for the past several years and when these go into service, there will be more than 50 Igniters in their fleet. Houston is the fourth largest fire department in the USA, responsible for preserving lives and property for the cities over 2 million residents. Houston operates 86 engine companies and 32 ladder trucks.
