Houston Takes Delivery of Six Ferrara Igniter Custom Pumpers

HOLDEN, LA - Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc., America’s premier manufacturer of custom fire and emergency vehicles, has just delivered another group of custom pumpers to the City of Houston Fire Department.  With this delivery, Houston’s fleet now operates 31 Ferrara trucks in front-line service.  Houston’s Ferraras include twenty custom pumpers, two high-pressure pumpers, nine rear-mount 107’ aerial ladders, and one hazardous materials unit.  All of their Ferrara emergency vehicles are built on the rugged Igniter custom chassis.

Company founder and CEO Chris Ferrara gave his thanks to the City of Houston for another multi-unit order.  “We’ve worked hard to gain their trust as we’ve built our relationship with the Houston Fire Department. We value that relationship as we do with all of our customers, both large and small, and will continue to engineer each truck to their custom requirements.”

Houston’s new Igniters feature a medium 4-door cab with raised roof, seating for four and a custom map book/SCBA storage console.  They are powered by a Cummins ISL-400 engine with Allison 3000EVS transmission.  The bodies are Ferrara’s heavy duty extruded aluminum in a rescue pumper configuration with full height compartments on both sides and include custom storage for fire extinguishers, O2 bottles and an assortment of tool boards.  The trucks are further equipped with Hale QMAX-1500 pumps, 500 gallon tanks and Harrison 6kW PTO/hydraulic generators.
