Ferrara Builds 8000 GPM Inundator Industrial Pumper

Holden, LA – Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc., a manufacturer of custom fire and emergency vehicles, announced today that its latest Inundator custom industrial pumper flow rates were extremely impressive during recent testing.  The truck is Underwriters’ Laboratories (UL) tested from draft at 3000 GPM (11,356 LPM).  The apparatus is designed for use at refineries and petro-chemical facilities.  When supplied by other apparatus or a sufficient hydrant system, the Inundator’s triple threat of fixed monitors have flow capacity of 8000 GPM (30,283 LPM).

The Inundator, on display this week at the Texas A&M industrial fire fighting school in College Station, is built on Ferrara’s Igniter custom chassis with an extruded aluminum cab and body.  The 1,000 gallon (3,785 liter) foam tank feeds a Hale 8FG midship pump and Williams Fire & Hazard Hot Shot II balanced pressure foam system.  Williams Fire & Hazard is an internationally recognized expert not only in design and build of fire suppression equipment, but also in the field of industrial fire suppression.  The entire plumbing system is fabricated from high quality stainless steel and features hinged left and right side pump panels and removable top mount panels for unparalleled service access.

Brad Williamson, Industrial Product Manager at Ferrara Fire Apparatus said the flow testing was quite a sight to behold.  “The primary monitor is a Williams Fire & Hazard Ambassador, which has a flow capacity of 4000 GPM (15,141 LPM).  The monitor is plumbed with an 8 inch (20.32 cm) full flow valve and piping, has a wireless remote control device that allows the operator to seek a better vantage point when directing the stream.  The Ambassador’s master stream will travel up to 450 feet (137.2 meters).”  In addition to the impressive Williams Ambassador, there are two rear-vehicle mounted Akron StreamMaster monitors that each flow 1500 GPM (5,678 LPM). When all devices are flowing maximum capacity, the entire apparatus will flow 8000 GPM (30,283 LPM).  Additionally, there are four 5 inch (12.70 cm) discharges with 5 inch full flow valves, one on each side panel and two at the rear.  This makes this newest version of the Inundator ready to tackle nearly any size industrial fire.

Recent deliveries of industrial apparatus by Ferrara include Chevron Phillips Chemical, Baytown, Texas; Citgo Petroleum, Sulfur, Louisiana; Eli Lilly, Indianapolis, Indiana; Flint Hills Resources, Corpus Christi, Texas; Placid Refining, North Port Allen, Louisiana; Union Carbide-Dow Chemical, Hahnville, Louisiana; and Shell Petrochemical, Guangdong Province, China.

Ferrara builds a complete line of fire apparatus in addition to the Inundator.  The rest of their product offering includes the Inferno XD and Igniter custom chassis, Strong Arm fire-rescue vehicle, pumpers and tankers, rear and mid-mount aerial ladders and platforms, rescue vehicles, brush trucks, command and heavy rescue trailers and airport vehicles.  Ferrara Fire Apparatus has long been considered a leading innovator in the fire and emergency vehicle industry.  Their Inferno and Igniter are some of the most rugged custom chassis available and feature optional firefighter safety devices such as Independent Front Suspension, Roll Stability Control, Complete Airbag Protection, and SmartWheel steering systems.
