Holden, LA – The Dalian, China Firefighting Bureau has just put their first two Ferrara Strong Arm revolutionary fire-rescue vehicles into service.  Dalian is a major Chinese port city; the country’s largest petroleum port and third largest port overall.  Dalian is known as  the ”Example City” meaning other cities in China look to Dalian for innovative new ideas and products for safety and security.  The Strong Arms were chosen because of their wide range of both fire and rescue capabilities.

The Ferrara Strong Arm is an articulating and telescoping crane-style boom that will lift 2500 pounds (1134 kilograms) when fully extended and 10,000 pounds (4536 kilograms) when fully retracted.  The Strong Arm boom is capable of full 360 degree rotation and 220 degree tilt.  The rotating and tilting operations, combined with the high tip-load capacity, make the truck an excellent tool for all types of heavy rescue. 

Equipped with a 1500 gallon per minute (5678 liters per minute) 5th Man Nozzle featuring 52 multi-directional Aqua Jets, the Strong Arm is especially adapted to all types of foam applications.  The trucks are built on Ferrara’s Inferno chassis with independent front suspension and have 1500 GPM (5678 LPM) midship pumps.

Joel Domangue, Aerial Product Manager, who was on-scene for the training, noted, “the delivery, acceptance and operational instruction recently completed in Dalian concluded with over twenty-five members of the Chinese Fire Brigade successfully completing the five day intensive instruction and certification classes.”  The fire brigade members possessed excellent technical skills and exhibited outstanding ability to safely and efficiently operate this multifunctional fire and rescue vehicles in a wide variety of emergency response operations”, he concluded.  In the time since this delivery, the Chinese government has ordered two additional Strong Arms to be placed in service in the cities of Beijing and Shenzhen.
